Though the weather out side was
frightful the Pan Erikoussa
Society's Christmas party went on
as scheduled.
This year the Board Members desisted
to do something new, to combine the
annual Christmas party for the children
with a dance for all. The concept to all
intent and purposes was good (at least
to this member of the board). Now if we
seat and knit pick all the pros and cons
we will find faults to this idea, the
economy the long duration of the party
the time and many more. The only
thing we didn't expect was the weather,
to have one of the biggest snow
storms in December's history.
Now let's take one thing at a time. The
economy, I think $50.00 is a lot of
money, but we all have gone out to
dinner or to a movie or other places
this year and I'm shore it cost allot
more.
Next the long duration of the party.
Again other years that the party was
free and on a Sunday people came
and stayed for five hours or six hours
and the only complain the had was the
food, not enough, or it came too late
and the kids where hungry.
Now the weather. We had set the
deadline to call and reserve a table the
14th of December, and we only had a
few tables reserved and those tables
where reserved by the board
members, I guess the members of our
Society are better weather forecasters
then the board. I can't blame the
people that canceled their reservations
the last minute because of the
weather, it's understandable.
Fortunately we had Erikousiotes that
braved the storm and the people from
our sister Islands of Mathraki and
Othoni and the dance was not totally
lost.
We have more excuses not to support
our Society than to stop smoking, but
we all have one thing in come and that
is our children and the goal of the Pan
Erikoussa Society is to promote our
Greek and Erikousiotiko heritage.
Finally  the Pan Erikoussa Society
will like to thank the people that
contributed their time and money
to make this event possible.
